Holmes, Cody Ray

Cody Holmes is the 15-year-old son on Ben amd Teri Holmes, brother to B.J. (19) and Maddie (23). He is the grandson of Damon and Thelma Holmes, the late Art and Mona Seybold of Oklahoma and the late Thomas Frazier of Houston. He is currently a sophomore at Lubbock High School where he participates in dual-credit and AP courses and plays snare on the drum line.
Cody attended Waters Elementary where he was an honor roll student. He attended O.L. Slaton Middle School where he was a 4.0 Honor Roll student, a member of National Junor Honor Society, The International Thespian Society, a state medalist in competitive swimming, Shade of Red show choir, band, Destination Imagination, and Who's Who. Cody's Destination Imagination team advanced to compete in the DI World competition in Tennessee. He acted in theatre productions of Cinderella and Annie; and was a lead in the production of Anything Goes. Cody was named "Macho Man" in O.L. Slaton's annual contest of representatives from each school department.
Scouting began for Cody as a Tiger Cub in Pack 151 while attending Waters Elementary. He joined Troop 157 in 2006. He has served in Troop 157 as Quartermaster and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He has attended summer camp at Lake Murray for five years and was tapped out for Order of the Arrow in 2010. He has served on staff for 1 year as director of Music Camp. Cody went on his first Philmnt trek in 2010 and the experience was one he plans to repeat. He has enjoyed camping in Guadalupe, Pecos Wilderness and Big Bend National Park.
Cody's eagle project was to create a sand box play area in the Kindergarten courtyard at Waters Elementary. This project was special to Cody since he attended Waters, and the Kindergarten teachers sought Cody to help in an area where they had a great need. Cody led his team and created an area where the children can interact and play in a fun, clean environment.
Much of Cody's time and energy is now focused on his love for music. He began in band playing euphonium and earned placements in All Region for 2 years on euphonium before switching to percussion. He earned a 1st chair placement at All Region his first year on percussion and continues to enjoy playing snare on the Lubbock High School drum line. He has earned many honors as a musician including: All Region Choir and Band, Texas Music Scholar, Most Outstanding Band Student, Choir Director's Award, Choir Leadership Award, Solo & Ensemble Local 1st Divisions and State Solo & Ensemble2nd Division. Cody hopes to compete in Drum Corps International in the future. He plans to major in Music Composition in cllege and teach at the University level.
Cody would like to thank the adult leaders of Troop 157 for their counsel and encouragement throughout his path to Eagle. Scoutmaster Brad Payne, Jerry Vance, Dick Gosdin, Chuck Smith, Charlie Needham, Donna Tidwell and the many outstanding adult leaders of Troop 157 were instrumental in helping Cody reach his goals and maintain his focus in scouting. The selfless contribution to scouting and endless enthusiasm and energy of the leaders of Troop 157 are greatley appreciated.
